Day 17-Victoria-18 Jul

We left early to walk to the Hertz car hire to pick up the car to drive to the Tsawassen Ferry terminal to go across the Georgia Strait to Vancouver Island. The crossing takes 1 1/2 hrs and it was a beautiful sunny day.

We went to Butchart Gardens and walked through the Sunken Garden:

Mediterranean, Japanese, Italian and Rose Gardens and saw the Ross Fountain which had a changing pattern of water sprays that was superb:

The flowers were all in bloom and the gardens were perfectly maintained. 

We continued on to Victoria and walked around to see the legislature building:

The Fairmont Empress:

Then we walked around the waterfront to Fishermans Wharf and saw the ubiquitous float plane and one of the cute little Canadian ferries that hold 10-12 people including the driver! 

Fisherman's wharf was not as extensive or as exciting as I expected!

Then back to the James Bay Inn where we were staying and had dinner.
