Tall Ship Cruise on Sydney Harbour

This evening we celebrated Ronnie’s 60th birthday (yes it took us almost a year to take advantage of his present!) by sailing on a tall ship on Sydney Harbour thanks to Scott.
We boarded the Southern Swan at Campbell’s Cove (near the overseas passenger terminal). It's a square rigged, three-masted barquentine built in Denmark in 1922 from Danish oak. It  can carry 90 guests but we had about 30 on board.

The crew, led by Andrew, were wonderful. As we motored up to Taylor’s Bay we had an entree of spinach and fetta triangles and mini spring rolls. Main course was a wonderful selection of stews and salads followed by Chocolate brownies.  The food was excellent.

They gave us interesting insights into the highlights we saw along the way.  We turned around at Taylor’s Bay where we lowered the sails (Ronnie helped) and headed back towards the Harbour bridge. One of the guys climbed the mast. Ronnie and I got to steer the ship and talk to the Captain.  It was a perfect day with 20 know winds and it was really lovely to watch the sun set on the harbour.
