Zagreb

Zagreb - A little rain, a little sun.

In 2020 an earthquake rocked Zagreb and most of the buildings have been effected. There is scaffolding everywhere (especially obvious around the notable buildings) to repair the damage.

Zagreb Cathedral:

The Stone Gate. In 1242 “a free royal city on Gradec, the hill of Zagreb" was proclaimed. They build walls around the city between 1242. and 1266 and several gates were erected. Some parts of the walls and the Stone Gate are the only parts preserved till today. The Stone Gate is the most significant oath site in Zagreb. You can light a candle and pray for health, happiness, good luck and love.

Beautiful but tiny little Chapel:
The tower where they let off a cannon at midday everyday. (Top right hand window). We were close when it went off and it was very loud.
The fateful photo. While we were taking this 2 girls who at first tried to overtake us, stood back behind the bushes (we thought they wanted to take the same photo). Next minute Shayne noticed they were unzipping Ron’s man bag. Ron hadn’t felt a thing. They had opened 3 zips but Ron made them wait while he checked his bag then he talked to them but let them go.
Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. Getting a new copper roof and spire.

Lunch at the Submarine.
Gric tunnel. Built during World War II to serve as a bomb shelter and promenade. The tunnel was used as a shelter during the Croatian War of Independence.  In 2016, the tunnel was remodeled and serves as a tourist attraction and for cultural events.

Dinner at Ribice.
