Walked down 150 almost vertical metres to get to the town. We would be fit if we stayed here for a long time. Caught the ferry (luckily to was late - not like Swiss rail) and Villa Carlotta.
Then to Lenno to see Villa del Baldianello (14th Century Abbey and gardens and had lunch on the lake shore.
Caught the ferry to Como. Then a smaller ferry from Como back to Tavernola on an expedition to find a factory that sells men's made in Italy handkerchiefs. Needless to say we were unsuccessful since, despite research, they only sell Pocket handkerchiefs. Still, I bought a scarf since we didn't want to waste all that energy on nothing.
Caught the ferry back to Varenna and saw all the sights including George Cluney's house.
Dinner at Varenna Caffe Bistrot on the water. I am sampling the risottos around the country and Ronnie is enjoying the beer and pasta.
Walked back up the 150 almost vertical metres to get to the apartment and am enjoying Italian Ice cream and a scotch.
