We are on our way. Picked up by Shoalhaven Maxi Bus in a “VIP transport” van with luxury seats (better than we’ll get on the plane!) very nice and unexpected. Left home at 11am on the way to Sydney International Airport.
We checked in online for our Qantas flight to LAX. Breezed through get-your-own-and-apply-your-own baggage label. The lurking security guy put a special bit of sticky tape (seriously) inside our passports for US visitors only. Then we scooted around to bag drop - no line there and through security. Took 10 mins all up.
Pretty good food on Qantas and lots of it. Ronnie got 5 hours of sleep (at least) and I got 1hr.
It’s still Thursday 4 Sept. (going to be a 48hr day!)
Took 2 full hrs to get through customs. We couldn’t use the MPC app to get on the special queue with 3 people on it. It recognised me but said Ronnie’s passport was less than a year (expires in March 2027). So we got in line with 300 other people. then collect bags, check them in again and walked to the domestic terminal gate for our next American Airlines flight from LAX to Philadelphia in a few hours. No food except pretzels onboard!
Would have liked a photo of the LAX control tower but it’s impossible from inside the terminals and you’d need a drone.
We have window seats tonight so I’ll try to get a live shot.
