Canada/NE - PEI - Day 13

Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park this morning to see high tide.

Hopewell Rocks from the top observation deck.
1.5hrs after high tide.
Then we went over to the bridge to Prince Edward Island. Canada’s only Island Province. It’s interesting that a lot of people converse in French. Many more than I realised.
Confederation Bridge from Cape Jourimain.
Confederation Bridge from Marine Rail Park on PEI. The 13km bridge is the longest in the world over ice covered water. The curves in it are not because they discovered their survey was off half way through but to ensure driver attentiveness. Seriously.

In 1911 they were going to make a railway tunnel but by the 1990’s no provision was made for rail. It took 4 years and 5,000 men to build.

The view from the cottage we are staying in near North Rustico, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

The crop in the foreground is Soybean. We though it was mustard, at first, which they grow extensively on the island to combat wireworm which attacks the widely grown potato.
