Picked up a car from Hertz at Southampton to go to stay with a friend at Surrey. A bit of backtracking but it is through beautiful countryside. This was in the centre of the roundabout close to their house:
Discovered that our friends live in a house with a fantastic view of Box Hill.
So we walked up it (how could any Jane Austen fan resist?) and around some little back country lanes just behind their house to find the biggest privately owned vineyard in the UK. Sampled a few bottles and was very impressed with a few of their wines. Great place to live, so close to London.

Bob and Rosie took us to a very nice restaurant The Grumpy Mole. Great names for places in Britain. Lovely food.
