.Left Lake Village at 8:30 on another beautiful sunny day but it was 9* C to start heading towards the Grand Teton National Park.
Drove past the Lake again. There is a bit of smoke around from 3 fires burning in Yellowstone but we can't smell smoke so they must be a fair way away.
Lewis Falls:
Grand Teton National Park sign:
Jackson Lake:
Mt Moran and Grand Teton (the tall one):
Caught a boat to the west side of the lake to hike up Mt St John.
Waterfalls:
Hidden Falls:
An onward and upward to Inspiration Point:
We saw Pika along the way in their natural rocky habitat. They are about the size of a small Guinea pig with cute but small rounded ears and no tail. They are part of the rodent family along with rabbits.
Chapel of Transfiguration was a lovely chapel in the middle of nowhere with a beautiful big window behind the alter looking up at the mountains.it has been used since the 1880s and is still used today and anyone can go there to pray.
Lunch at Dornan by the river in one of the only shady spots we could find on what turned out to be a very hot 33* day.
Mormon Barns:
Glacier View:
Snake River overlook made famous by Ansel Adams but we can't get "that" shot anymore because the pine trees have grown and obscure the river bend now.
We saw two bison herds today. One at the Mormon barns and one near Elk Ranch Flats.
Oxbow lake:
Not a good time to take a photo as the haze and position of the sun washed out the mountains. It looked great in real life though.
