Namibia - Day 5

Early morning start.

Heading north to the coast at Walvis Bay. Through the moon valley:

Lunch while viewing flamingos feeding.

I’m relying on Ellen for some superb flamingo photos. Ronnie’s 15 year old camera is acting up and doesn’t have wifi so I’ll add more photos at home. Ellen has been able to add photos to Facebook but I can’t add via my blog on the dodgy wifi we get.  I was the lookout watching for birds taking off and landing!

On to Swakopmund (pronounced soccer mum?) searched the German colonial town for a book on namibian flora in English for Ronnie. Most of the people we are with are bird hunters.

Swakopmund Lutheran church built by the Germans who established the town and are still frequent travellers to the town and to Africa.
Beautiful German architecture.

Dinner  at “The Tug” at Swakomund on the water.  Fabulous grilled prawns and the best calamari we’ve ever had. Great mocktails and aperol spritz! (I had both!) it turned out to be the very best restaurant we went to on the whole trip.

Stay: Dunedin Star Guesthouse. Swapped (!) to a very nice room. Internet intermittent to say the least. This is our room with a fountain outside which stops at 10pm and starts about 9am.
