Day 41-Grand Canyon-11 Aug

Drove from Bryce Canyon to the Grand Canyon.  Along the way we saw the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument:
Our first view of the start of the Grand Canyon at Lees Ferry where people start their paddle or speed boat ride down the Canyon:

Marble Canyon - because all the fallen rocks look like huge marbles:
Navajo Bridge - built in 1929 and replaced Lees Ferry and enabled travel expansion. This is now a foot bridge:
The new (identical) bridge to take road traffic today:

Colorado River at Navajo Bridge:
The Grand Canyon at Desert View:
Ancient Tusayan Village ruin built in 1185 AD where people used to live and farm at the Grand Canyon:
Similar to but not as old as the Scottish Picts:
Went to a ranger talk on Condors and saw a Condor spiralling in the air above us. Even the ranger seemed excited. They are endangered and the captive breeding and release program has brought them back from 8 birds to 400 birds. There are a pair around the Bright Angel lodge who they think are rearing a chick.

Theyhave a 10 foot wingspan! I have better photos but this one shows it was above the Canyon:
Going back tonight with Rons longer lens  and hope it comes back for a close up!

Dinner at Historic Bright Angel Dinning
