I put a map of the trip on day 2.
Cruise this morning to see whales and dolphins. Really looking for leatherback turtles but, like the internet, they are reported to be elusive!
We saw a tiny (full sized) local dolphin about 750mm long but he was too quick to photograph. I got to pat a wild but tamed with food pelican on the boat on his downy head and got to pat a baby seal.
The lighthouse was built at the end of a sand spot but it is but is now useless at the spit grows 20m a year. It is now an exclusive hotel! This a a breeding ground for 30,000 seals which the males visit once a year,
There are no hairdryers in Namibia - well none that I’ve seen in our salubrious accomodations - maybe because Namibian women have their hair in dreadlocks or plats or other fabulous styles that don’t require a hairdryer.
Leaving Swakopmund after lunch to head to our camp among the boulders of the Spitzkoppe Mountains.
Mountain ridge almost at Spitzkoppe.
Natural rock window at Spitzkoppe. A three striped beetle called the three striped beetle - they have simple names for wildlife here!
Setting sun at Spitzkoppe where we stayed.
