Mostar

Ivan picked us up to take us to Mostar in Bosnia & Herzegovina. We scaled the hills surrounding Split and on the other side are the wide flat valleys of B & H. At the border they stamped our passports as Leaving Croatia and 50m away they stamped our passport to enter B & H.

Every night at 6pm they have a service for 1,000 people from around the world:

There are confessionals and priests who speak a variety of languages. Spanish, French, Polish, English etc etc.
On to Mostar.

Dinner at Mostar Urban Restaurant with a view of the people jumping off the bridge. Not many jump as they try and collect €50 before they jump and that takes a bit of spruiking. Find man in red board shorts half way down: the
Jumper just showing below the bridge:

Stari Grad to Tiha Bay

Walked around Stari Grad this morning:

The Croatian Renaissance poet and writer Petra Hektorovic who lived from 1487-1572 was a Christian thinker and built the Tvrdalj Fort which held as much meaning for him as his literary work.

The pool which is full of fish:

Garden shed with a slate roof:
Barbecue area with water well:
Inscription above the door: Alas, the days flow by like water and do not return!

Olive press:
Cafe on the point leaving Stari Grad:
Headed to Tiha Bay, Hvar on a bouy. Our private “beach”.
Our neighbour, German entrepreneur Reinhold Wurth, Vibrant Curiosity.  With the helicopter at the ready.
Didn’t have to pay anyone to moor us as Ron and  Romano hooked us up to the bouy and Ronnie dived in and tied the boat to the shore for extra security.
Our lunch:
Veli Dolan for traditional Octopus Peka (slow cooked) for
dinner.

Early morning  Komiza on Vis:
We are aiming for Stari Grad on Hvar today.  These old gun placements look like they are being converted to accommodation:

Today Stari Grad celebrates the Day of Stari Grad and its patron saint, St. Rocco.

There are religious and traditional events dedicated to St. Rocco and the town procession with the statue of St. Rocco with singers and a big folk festival, evening concert and fireworks in 16 August, tonight!
