Day 22 - Nerja - 6 June
Same, same but different.
Superb weather yet again.
Breakfast at La Fragata, Nerja.
Beautiful beaches and lots of little shops to peruse.
Had a drink, saw the sights, had a swim, ate ice cream, some food and had another drink.
The car is in a carpark below the hotel that entailed doing a 90* turn in a tiny single car width lane with footpaths about 150mm wide - a 9 point turn - then getting it into a lift that was the width of the car plus about 150mm. Even Alf who has fixed and driven cars for a living is reluctant to take the car out again for a day trip so if we do one it will be by taxi. Luckily this is a beautiful place with all we can want for a perfect break without the need of cars.
There are a lot of English and Germans holidaying here. Very few Americans or Australians.
Dinner at Antico Roma.
After dinner drinks at la Fragata.

Day 21 - Granada to Nerja - 5 June
Picked up the cars from the car park and drove passed the real Sierra Nevada mountains - still with a few remnants of snow left on the peaks - to Nerja (pronounced Nerha) on the Costa del Sol. Oleanders are used as median strip trees here! They look beautiful.
Had a drink, saw the sights, had a swim, an ice cream and another drink. I think there is a pattern there!
Strolling home from the Italian Restaurant the Portofino with a superb view over the mediterranean we came across another superb view:

Day 18 - Cordoba to Granada - 2 June
Fetched our cars from their tiny spots in the carpark and drove to Granada.
Fields and fields of Olive trees and what might have been almond trees.
Lots of Moorish Castles and Churches on top of hills above towns along the way.
We arrived at our hotel about midday after negotiating narrow cobbled streets of the historic district which were barely wide enough to fit a car. We dropped the bags off at the hotel and the boys took the cars to their tiny spaces at the carpark. We can see why people buy tiny cars here. Very grateful I am not doing any of the driving because the streets are insane and google maps on the phone leaves a lot to be desired as a navigating tool.
We had lunch in at Rosario Varela then caught taxis to Alhambra. We toured the Generalife gardens with a myriad of pond and fountains:
The Alcazaba fortress:
And The Nasrid Palaces constructed from 1314 until 1391.
It is a huge complex of areas lined with amazing timber carvings and plaster freeze work that imitates lace. There are also mosaics and one remaining original stained glass window.
Had some of the afternoon tea kindly provided by the hotel instead of dinner and retired for the night.
